Members are welcome to attend our next "Heraldic Workshop" on Tuesday 13th December 2011 at 7.00pm in Øvre Slottsgate 2 B, Oslo.

We can look forward to winding up an eventfull heraldic year, over a cup of mulled wine in the Christmas spirit! Perhaps you can bring along some heraldic item or article of interest to admire and discuss?

"Heraldic Workshop" is a term we use to designate get-togethers where thoughts, experiences and other points of heraldic interest can be shared informally.

The Norwegian Heraldry Society (NHF), together with the Norwegian Genealogical Society (NSF) and DIS-Norge have been successfull in their bid to host the  XXXIst International Congress of Genealogical and Heraldic Sciences. The congress will be held in Oslo in 2014.

The year marks the 200th anniversary of Norway´s constitution, as well as 700 years of Oslo as it´s capital city.

The announcement was made on 31st August at a meeting held during the International Colloquium on Heraldry in Fribourg, Switzerland.

The first world congress was held in Barcelona in 1929, the second in 1953, and the next in 1955. Since 1958 the congress has been held bi-annually. It was held in Stuttgart, Germany in 2010 and in 2012 Maastrich, Netherlands will host the XXXth congress.

The norwegian application was made by representatives of the three societies; Rune Nedrud (NSF), Torill Johnsen (DIS-Norge) and Tom S. Vadholm (NHF). An organising committee will now be set up, together with sub-committees to deal with the program, economy, venue &c.  No logo has yet been developed.

NHF and the organising committee call on all our members to play their part in the work ahead to ensure a successfull event!

Members are welcome to another of our "Heraldic workshops", on Tuesday 11th October 2011 at 7pm in Øvre Slottsgate 2B, Oslo.

These "Heraldic Workshops" are informal meetings where we exchange ideas and experiences, or have a look at relevant litterature and the like. If you have anything of interest - bring it along! Sometimes we have short talks , and Anders Bjønnes will this time say a few words about a project the Norwegian Genealogical Society is undertaking regarding the decent of the Eidsvoll constitution´s "founding fathers". Of heraldic intererst too will be the seals of these gentlemen.

Kaare Sidselrud may also brief us on the IAH  colloquium held recently in Fribourg, Switzerland, and we will look at the coat of arms granted in the UK to Catherine, HRH the Duchess of Cambridge.

Søsterkirkene i Gran (Fred Ruhne Rahm)

Saturday 10th September

Excursion to Hadeland lead by Proff. Erla Bergendahl Hohler (art historian) and Alf Hammervold (spesialist in religious art), to visit places of heraldic and related interest in Tinglestad Church and the Gran "Sister Churches". The trip was meticulously planned, and proved a great success.

Members pooled cars to drive to the area, sharing expenses. Lunch at Granvollen was specially made  according to an 18th centuary recipe by Christopher Hammer.

(Photos from the summer excursion can be seen in our Facebook album)
